PERSONAL TRAINING

FOR SENIORS

Strength, Fitness, Flexability

ROBIN BARRATT

 Personal Trainer

Hi, I'm Robin, I'm 64 years young, and I provide private one-to-one personal training for seniors (50s, 60s, 70s and above!) in Norwich, Norfolk.

ABOUT ME: I started working in the security industry way back in the late '80s. First I worked in night-time leisure security in Norwich, and then in close protection - both operations and training - in countries including Russia, the Balkans (during the conflict), and the Middle East. I sold my small security training company in 2002. I have been training myself, and other people, for over 40 years!

The NHS Physical Activity Guidelines, recommend that adults aged 65 and over do activities that improve strength, balance, and flexibility on at least two days a week. That's 'at least' two days, but if you can do more, then do more - there are people in the gym where I train in their 60s, 70s and even in their 80s who train three, four and sometimes five days a week! They have a much healthier and a much more positive older age than so many others their own age.

I am not going to write too much here, as there is already so much information online about fitness and strength training for seniors, but we all know how vitally important exercise is, especially as you get older. Plus keeping fit, developing strength and staying active as a senior significantly helps maintain independence too.

Some benefits include:

FITNESS, WEIGHT AND RESISTANCE TRAINING

  • Fights age-related muscle loss.
  • Strengthens muscles and bones - protects against osteoporosis and reduce fracture risks.
  • Improves balance and stability - builds leg and core strength to keep your balance steady.
  • Supports metabolic and joint health.
  • Boosts mental well-being - reduces symptoms of anxiety, depression, and cognitive decline.
  • Lowers your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
  • Improves heart health - helps lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

STRETCHING AND FLEXIBILITY

  • Improves range of motion - keeps joints lubricated with natural synovial fluid to stop stiffening.
  • Stretching improve balance, posture, and core stability.
  • Eases chronic tightness in the back, hips, neck, and shoulders.
  • Makes routine movements like reaching, bending, and tying shoes much simpler.
  • Stimulates blood flow to muscles, which aids in recovery and relaxation.

There are lots more benefits too, of course, but these are just some basics to demonstrate the importance of strength, fitness and flexibility training for seniors.

Three Options:

Gym-based training

You can train at my gym (PureGym on Alysham road) or I can train with you at your gym.

Home-based training

If you are unhappy or uncomfortable joining a gym, I can offer private personal training in the comfort of your own home.

Location-based training

From a simple brisk walk, to exercises outdoors, another option is to workout at a local park or outside space.

Sessions

Sessions are designed around your current fitness and strength levels, and will incorporate your own personal goals. These are then regularly assessed and updated every few weeks according to your progress. However, ALL my one-to-one personal training sessions contain a warm up, strength and resistance training, core training, stretching, and a cool down, and each session will last from between 45 - 60 minutes.

Costs

Norwich based personal training cost just £25.00 per session. I do charge slightly extra for petrol if you live outside the greater Norwich ring road. Buy 4 and get 1 FREE!! Payments can be made via bank transfer, cheque, or PayPal - I am a verified PayPal merchant, and should be soon able to take card payments by phone. Your first one-to-one consultation is FREE.
